Terms of service
Listen (Natural Read Aloud) · Last updated: July 20, 2026

These terms govern your use of Listen, a Chrome extension and service that converts text you choose into speech ("the Service"). By using Listen you agree to these terms.

1. Free trial and fair use

New devices receive a free trial measured in characters of text processed. To keep the Service available and affordable, per-request, daily, and service-wide limits apply and may be adjusted. One trial per device; attempts to reset or multiply trials may be limited or blocked.

2. Listen Pro subscription

Listen Pro is a monthly subscription (currently $6.99/month) billed by Stripe. It renews automatically each month until canceled. Cancel anytime via the Manage subscription button in the extension — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Prices may change with advance notice; changes apply at your next renewal.

3. Refunds

Payments are generally non-refundable for partial billing periods. If something went wrong — duplicate charge, service failure — contact us and we'll make it right.

4. Own-key mode

If you use your own OpenAI API key, your usage is governed by your agreement with OpenAI and billed by OpenAI; the subscription terms above don't apply to own-key usage.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service for unlawful content, don't attempt to bypass usage limits or authentication, don't reverse engineer or disrupt the Service, and don't resell or share access.

6. Availability and changes

The Service depends on third-party providers (OpenAI, Cloudflare, Stripe) and is provided "as is" without warranties. Features may change, be suspended, or be discontinued. We'll make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Listen's total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid for the Service in the three months before the claim arose.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA.
